
Born and raised in Mumbai, India, Rohan Chavan is an independent filmmaker, film photographer, and visual artist committed to telling stories that are both emotionally resonant and philosophically grounded. His practice is driven by a strong visual sensibility and a desire to explore unconventional, experimental forms of storytelling. Chavan’s short films have been recognized for pushing the boundaries of narrative structure, often blending fiction with poetic and reflective modes. Rooted in the language of independent cinema, his work seeks to create a deeper connection with viewers by challenging dominant cinematic norms and evoking layered emotional responses.
In addition to his artistic practice, Chavan has extensive teaching experience in Film Appreciation and has conducted numerous workshops and lectures, focusing on the history, legacy, and evolving language of the film medium.
His short films often transcend the conventional mediums of storytelling and are experimental in nature. His most recent work is ‘ECHO’ - a science fiction Short Film based on the concept of Artificial Intelligence and its ability to change our perception of reality.
